What drone should I buy? We help you choose!
If you've never flown a drone before, but you're interested in the hobby, you first have to think about what you want to use it for!?
In the hobby category, we distinguish between two types of drones: the so-called "toy category" machines, cheap drones that even small children can use with proper parental supervision. Since they do not have a GPS receiver, they are recommended for indoor use. The biggest enemy of drones of this type is the wind, because if we are not careful, an air current can quickly take control of our new pet, which in the worst case can even end in an accident.
Tello is currently the most reliable "toy" drone in DJI's range.
This little bag of poison has a 5 megapixel resolution, 720p video capable camera, which transmits a continuous live image to the display of our phone during the flight via a WiFi connection. Its maximum range is 100 meters - this largely depends on the environmental conditions - it can fly up to 30 meters. The special feature of the machine is that it has infrared camera-based sensors on the bottom, with which it can keep its position safely, that is, unlike drones of a similar price category, it does not drift away! Get to know the different TELLO models and packages on the TELLO category page .
The other category is the semi-pro-professional but still hobby category drones: unlike toy drones, these devices already have satellite positioning (GPS, Glonass). Here, you don't have to be afraid of being blown away by the wind even outside, but of course there is a limit here too! In general, a template can be applied to these machines, according to which the more expensive they are, the farther they fly, the longer they stay in the air, the better the quality of the camera, and the more advanced the communication and security solutions are.
SPARK is DJI's entry-level camera drone, which you can control either with a phone or a remote control.
Based on DJI's current portfolio, these are the Spark , Mavic Air , Phantom 4 Pro v2.0 and Mavic 2 Pro / Zoom models in order. With these machines, we can make really professional recordings, but we also need to know the features of our machine.
Mavic Air is the ideal travel companion - the perfect compromise between knowledge and portability.
The DJI Spark and Mavic Air are great entry-level models. They communicate using a WiFi connection, so they are not capable of long distances. They have a stabilized camera and a lot of smart functions. We recommend it to those who want to record family events and trips, and it is not absolutely important to spend a lot of time in the air. It's a great choice for those who aren't sure yet, but want more than just a game. Since they are available from just over one hundred thousand forints, you take fewer financial risks with them.
At the top of the hobby category, two types of machines dominate, the DJI Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom , which can almost be considered professional machines, and the Phantom 4 Pro v2.0 series .
Who doesn't know this shape? The Phantom is DJI's oldest and most popular series. Phantom 4 v2.0 still has excellent flight characteristics, combined with useful sensors and unique image quality!
These planes have the best cameras, the most safety features and solutions, and the most flight time! They are also unbeatable at long distances, they can fly almost 10 km under the right conditions!
The Mavic 2 is currently DJI's most popular and most advanced drone series. Its compact design is combined with extraordinary capabilities, making it the perfect choice for both work and hobby use!
Both machines are very professional, but at the same time very different. The Mavic 2 Pro and Zoom models are very comfortable to carry, DJI's latest models at the moment! These machines can travel the greatest distance. The only difference between the two machines is the camera: the Pro is equipped with a 1" Hasselblad camera, while the Zoom is equipped with a smaller sensor but a camera capable of 2x optical zoom.
The Phantom 4 Pro v2.0 is DJI's oldest drone. It went through a lot of development until it got its current form, the most resistant type in its category, a real working machine. Due to its size, it is not the most comfortable to carry, but it is very resistant to environmental conditions precisely because it is large and massive. It has a very good quality camera and flight characteristics along with adequate safety features!
With these machines, you can make much more professional recordings than family and outing videos, they are also suitable for work.
Thanks to the numerous obstacle avoidance and safety functions, it can even be purchased as a first drone, but due to its price, responsible use is recommended only after exhaustive practice!
